New Kind of Volunteers?

social media volunteer

    Are you a volunteer?
Have you ever done some volunteer work?

In your opinion – who the volunteer is?
Lets start from definition of volunteering:

Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity, intended to promote good or improve human quality of life, but people also volunteer for their own skill development, to meet others, to make contacts for possible employment, to have fun, and a variety of other reasons that could be considered self-serving.

Have you ever considered yourself as social media volunteer? Maybe you should.
Stop for a sec. and think:

  • Have you ever helped someone via social media
  • maybe you helped someone how to cope with all those social media applications
  • etc.

I think that social media environment and all of those activities on social media platforms made us more aware that there are people who might need some support and help. We are more proactive, not focus only on ourselves – and that’s something new.

And even more fascinating is that people who are helping each other, they don’t consider themselves as volunteers. They would say that helping is something normal/standard…and that’s a good sign I guess.
And those people are new heroes!

  1. I like your connection of helping on social media and volunteers. I have never thought of it that way. But.. at the end of the day, being helpful is just good business, builds reputation and credibility and more importantly.. feels good!

  2. I would say even that whatever reason you have to help others – doesn’t matter that much in general, because at the end of the day you helped someone who needed your help.

And yes, I agree with you Laurinda – it feels good 🙂
